ABOUT ME
Born and raised in the green Sheffield suburbs to immigrant parents from India, the internet was where I found my solace. The online landscape provided scope for my unbounded exploration of global culture and helped fuel a deep passion for music.
Most of my time growing up was on a computer, experimenting with free software and exploring ways to express my creativity. At 13, I was releasing mashups on YouTube and performing on live-streaming platforms. At 15, equipped with Logic Pro, I started creating my own songs and learning more about the craft, culture and history behind contemporary music.

A desire to be part of the world’s evolving technologization led me to study an integrated Master’s degree in Computer Science with Innovation at Bristol. The city’s vibrant music scene absorbed me, as I delved into live event work and DJing. The practical nature of the degree allowed me to work across inter-disciplinary teams and with clients, developing skills in research, insight-led strategy, creative ideation, prototyping & testing, all whilst building an understanding of the powerful future that comes with technology.
Uniting my interests in music and technology, my dissertation investigated the use of AI tools by musicians, the corresponding audience reception and potential systemic implications. The project was documentated in a demonstrator report, which sets out research-informed reccomendations for musicians and the industry. In accordance with the reccomendations around artist transparency, I produced a prototype audiovisual EP project ‘(beta)’ using AI vocals, which was exhibited at Bristol Innovation Week 2024.
In industry, I have implemented my skills at companies like Spotify, collaborating dynamically across global teams and learning from industry veterans. Completing my Master’s degree in July 2024, I currently work at UMG for Brands (the brand partnerships division of Universal Music Group), helping brands stay culturally relevant by using the power of music.
‘ANI BROKE THE CODE’ with several literal and figurative meanings acts as an apt alias for my creative and music work.
